Gippsland Opera began Opera by the Lakes at Nyerimilang Heritage Park in 2014, featuring flautist Jane Rutter plus experienced singers. Since then, we have run OBTL in March each year (with a two-year break for Covid). Featured artists have included Marina Prior, David Hobson, Silvie Paladino, Alexander Lewis, Sally-Anne Russell, Jeremy Kleeman, Nathan Lay, Georgia Wilkinson, Kate Amos, Madeleine Crombie.

2025 will be our 10th OBTL, featuring soprano Antoinette Halloran, mezzo Dimity Shepherd, tenor Shanul Sharma and bass baritone Teddy Tahu Rhodes, plus local baritone Will Hardy. They will accompanied by David McNicol.

OBTL is supported by many volunteers and groups, including Red Cross (afternoon tea), Kalimna West CFA (car parking), Nungurner Primary School (cakes), Albert & Co (boxed lunches), East Gippsland Shire and Parks Victoria.
